FAQs
How do I make an appointment?
Please contact us directly or use our online client portal to schedule a brief phone consultation. During this time, we can assess your needs and go over any questions you may have. You can then decide if you would like to move forward with scheduling an initial appointment.
What are your rates?
Session fees vary based on the clinician you work with and the type of treatment provided. Standard rates are indicated below. Please contact us directly to learn more. In some cases, a sliding scale may be offered to clients with lower incomes or with current financial struggles.
Individual Therapy:
Dr. Linda Ly - $180 per session
Dr. Conanan - $220 per session
Group Therapy: $50 per session
Psychological Testing: Fees are dependent on the type of evaluation being requested. Please call for a brief consultation and an initial quote.
Payments for individual and group therapy are collected after each session unless other arrangements have been made in advance. For psychological testing, 50% will be paid at the initial intake meeting and 50% at the last testing session; all fees must be paid in full prior to scheduling a feedback session and receiving your final report. Payment plans can be discussed during your initial consultation.
All major credit and debit cards are accepted, as well as FSA and HSA cards. If an appointment is missed or canceled with less than 24-hour notice, the client will be billed their full session fee.
We are currently in-network with Aetna (PPO, POS, EPO) and Lyra. For other insurance plans, we can provide you a “superbill” receipt to submit to your insurance carrier who may reimburse you through your “out-of-network” benefits. Please contact your insurance company directly to determine how. Cancelation fees are typically not reimbursed by insurance.
Billing statements and Good Faith Estimates are also available upon request.
Good Faith Estimate Notice: You have the right to receive a “Good Faith Estimate” explaining how much your medical care will cost. Under the law, healthcare providers need to give patients who don’t have insurance or who are not using insurance an estimate of the bill for medical items and services. You have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate for the total expected cost of any non-emergency items or services, including psychotherapy services. You can ask your health care provider, and any other provider you choose, for a Good Faith Estimate before you schedule an item or service. If you receive a bill that is at least $400 more than your Good Faith Estimate, you can dispute the bill. For questions or more information about your right to a Good Faith Estimate, visit www.cms.gov/nosurprises or call 1-800-985-3059.
What are the benefits of paying privately?
As much as mental health awareness has progressed over the years, stigma still exists. Confidentiality is one reason why clients seek private pay. This is particularly relevant for people who may not wish to carry a diagnosis in their medical file. Additionally, some insurance providers may have limitations or restraints on what they cover, such as diagnosis, modes of therapy, or duration of treatment. They may also require authorizations or have you meet the mental health deductible prior to covering therapy costs. These factors could create unnecessary stress and difficulty in the continuity of care, whereas private pay may offer a more straightforward process.
Do you currently provide services in-person or via Telehealth?
While we enjoy meeting in person, telehealth affords us the opportunity to serve a wider community safely. Most individual and group sessions are held on HIPAA-compliant telehealth platforms.
Upon availability and in accordance with state, local, and CDC guidelines, in-person sessions may be offered at our office in Sorrento Valley.
